3.4.6 Efficiency. The assembly shall remove 97 percent, by weight, of contaminant from
a mixture of 2000 mL of clean hydraulic fluid MIL-H-46170 or commercial equivalent (less
than 0.0004 g of contaminant per 2000 mL of fluid), and a 5 mL slurry in accordance with
table III (see 4.9.6).

The efficiency shall be determined by the following formula:
Efficiency = A-(B-C) x 100
A
Where:
A = (Add value)
= Amount of test contaminant passed
through system when there is no filter
element in the filter housing.
B = (Contaminant value)
= Amount of test contaminant passed
through the test filter assembly with the
filter element installed.
C = (Blank value)
= Amount of contaminant attributed to the
test system and test filter assembly when
no contaminant has been added. This
amount shall be less than 0.0007 g.
3.4.7 Collapse pressure. The filter element shall withstand the minimum differential
pressure, at flow rate specified in table IV without inward structural failure or filter medial failure.
The differential pressure shall be obtained by adding AC Fine Test Dust to the test system while
