4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall include the examinations of
4.5 and the tests of 4.9.1.3 (see table VII).
4.4 Sampling. Samples from an inspection lot for conformance inspection shall be
selected in accordance with the contract order.
4.5 Examination. Each valve assembly shall be examined for compliance with the
requirements specified in 3.3, 3.5.1, 3.6.1, and 3.6.2. Any redesign or modification of the
contractor's standard product to comply with specified requirements, or any necessary redesign or
modification follow in- failure to meet the specified requirements shall receive particular attention
for adequacy and suitability. This element of inspection shall encompass all visual examinations
and dimensional measurements. Noncompliance with any specified requirements or presence of
one or more defects preventing or lessening maximum efficiency shall constitute cause for
rejection.
4.6 Acceptance tests (100 percent). Each valve assembly shall be subjected to the test
specified in 4.9.1.3.
4.6.1 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all inspections shall be
conducted under the following conditions:
Temperature: 73° ± 18°F

Pressure: 24 to 30.5 in. of mercury (Hg)
Humidity: 50 ± 30 percent (%)
c.
Hydraulic fluid temperature: 100° ± 10°F
d.
4.6.2 Methods of inspection. Filter shall be inspected in accordance with the following
requirements:
a. A filter head assembly suitable for mounting and providing fluid flow through
the filter element and relief valve (assembly) shall be provided for testing as
required.
b. Unless otherwise specified, the hydraulic fluid used for all tests shall conform to
MIL-H-46170 or commercial equivalent and shall be continuously filtered
through a 5 micron absolute filter for Drawing 12257235 assembly and a 3 micron
absolute filter for Drawing 12270316 assembly. The contamination level
shall not exceed 0.0004g per 2000 mL of fluid.
c. Unless otherwise specified, the air used to pressurize the test apparatus shall be
filtered through a 0.45 µ membrane filter (type HA Millipore, or equivalent).
