4.6 Tests.
4.6.1 Examination. The valve shall be inspected to determine conformance of materials,
weight, cap, tether, contamination prevention device, markings, interchangeability, and item
identification.
4.6.2 Dimensions. The valve shall be inspected to determine conformance to
dimensions, threads, and outlet requirements.
4.6.3 Cleanliness. All surfaces shall be free of visible particulates (50 microns and
larger), free of visible fluorinated lubricants, and free of hydrocarbon contamination to a level
not greater than 3 mg/ft2 (see 6.4). Cleanliness of the surfaces shall be demonstrated by
industrially accepted methods and these cleaning and verification methods shall be identified
(see 6.2 and 6.3).
4.6.4 Opening and closing torque. With the valve closed, the outlet uncapped, and a
minimum pressure of 2,200 psig applied to the valve inlet, the valve shall be turned to the fully
open position (¼ to one turn). With gas flowing through the valve, the valve shall then be turned
